I know, I know. You guys are all going to be like, but Zie (or Heather, depending on which journal you happen across), it's only August 9th. Well. I can't help that. My NaNo brain turns on the second week of August and doesn't shut down until November 1st starts.
So this year for NaNo, I am going back to my elemental dystopian. Essex and Atlas have had quite enough of a break, and now I am going to make them tell me the whole story whether they want to, or not. Yeah. That's how I roll with my more stubborn plotbunnies and their muses.
Oddly enough, I think I can actually use my Virus Playlist though I may take a cue from Rainbow Rowell and start working on playlists for each of my main characters. Antagonists included. To that end, here I will be listing them:
Protags:
Atlas -Air
Essex-Fire
Journey -Earth
Willa-Water (she is taking the place of several characters from my original story idea)
Elias (Essex and Journey's father.)
I also just wanted to balance out the girls and boys I'd be writing for.
Supporting:
Arrianne
Jean-Phillipe (J.P.)
Wendy
Linux
Wendy and Linux were too important to abandon all together
My inspiration for the Infinites novels was definitely Maximum Ride. I have studied how each member of the Flock works individually, and thought that Patterson wove them together flawlessly. I've always liked multi character casts in novels, but Maximum Ride really does this in a way that is intricate, and easy to understand. While I only have one kid in my "Flock", I feel like even she is older than Angel. Willa is closer to Nudge's age. I wanted to explore writing for teens with the angst, and emotion that I have come to love so much from favorite authors like Rainbow Rowell, Cassandra Clare, John Greene, and so many others.
I can't wait for NaNoWriMo. Maybe in this new community I will find others who do NaNoWriMo. I have to change my region. :( I wish I could have two regions for NaNoWriMo, because I will definitely miss my Maryland Blue Crabs!! Oh yeah! I also promised my friend Courtney I would try this Harry Potter thing she did last year. She'll be there to help me in spirit, I'm sure.
