Jewelpets!

mad_tea_partySo for as long as we've been friends, Lexi has been trying to get me into a Sanrio property. We've shared a love of Hello Kitty. I've had a fond soft spot for the gentle white kitty for many years now. (I think i even ttook a plush of her into an operation once. i do have a memory of that...). But unlike Lexi, she didn't stick with me as an absolutely must for merchandise.
Enter Wrekko player, aka Shane. yes, I will use his real name now. Because in this instance, I am so happy. for the last few months in our Warner panfandom RP, he's been introducing us to these little creatures called Jewelpets! He later told us that they were anime characters and that we could, if we so chose, watch it on YouTube because there were fansubs.
I avoided it for a long while because i was still working on Biker Mice from Mars, and then of course I was working through Fred's passing. (I still am, make no mistake.). I wasn't ready yet for anime, and I didn't really feel right watching a new anime without him. But yesterday, I finally bit the bullet and tried it, and you guys? I am friggin' obsessed!! These little critters are So damn cute! I was only two episodes in when I was on ebay scouring for a Ruby plushie. Now I want an Io and a Diana. But Diana's plushie is SO expensive. She's upwards of 60.00. Not saying I wouldn't do it, cause you know damn well I will, eventually. But first Ruby.
One thing I would suggest as fan merch is maybe is replica jewel necklaces. You'd have to see the anime to understand what I mean, but it's an idea. If i was still in the jewelry-making game, I'd totally do it. But I an't do it anymore with the way my fingers and hands work. :( It's amazing I can actually crochet. anyway.
as far as watching this new thing without Fred... I did mention it to Jonathan, and he said he might check it out, but I'm doubting it. But hey, at least i finally found my Sanrio property! Now I just need my merch to be available in the US!!! That is the catch. Jewelpets isn't licensed in the US. :( So Ebay might become my best friend in that regard (not that it wasn't already thanks to ordering the '93 Biker Mice from Mars figs)
