Some thoughts
Oct. 3rd, 2017 09:54 amSo we had yet another mass shooting. This time it was in a place it was least expected. A country music festival in Las Vegas. There are a lot of different details circulating, so I'm not here to talk about the specifics of the incident. I don't want to spread more things that might be untrue. What I am here to talk about is how this effects me even all the way in Florida.
First and foremost, one of my friend's friend's daughters got grazed by one of those bullets. It wasn't anything super serious, and she made it out with little damage, but that's besides the point. That makes this a little too close to home for me. Even if I don't know the person that was grazed. The fact that a friend knew them is enough for me.
Secondly, it's making me a little jittery about the upcoming Imagine Dragons concert in November. It's bad enough it's in Orlando, but now that a mass shooting has occured in a concert venue... I'm a nervous wreck about going. Of course, I will still go. My brother spent a lot of money on my ticket, and as my friend Aubrie pointed out, not going is what these people are hoping for. No. That's not going to happen. As big a fan of Imagine Dragons as I am, I've waited for a good few years for this.
I am hoping that this will ramp up security at the venue, though. I wouldn't care if I had go through a baggage check, or a body scan, or what have you if it meant that I would be safe to enjoy my concert. It's sasd that the world has come to this, but better safe than sorry, if nothing can be done about guns being put into the hands of people who will use them in ways other than how they were intended to be use. Again, I don't intend to get political here, these are just some thoughts.
Vegas incident and my anxiety aside, I have a lot of things to look forward to in the weeks to come. Of course everyone know that National Novel Writing Month is probably the biggest event for me to look forward to besides anything Christmas related. I really do take it seriously, and anyone who tries to tell me not to...well. They can try, but every year I push and push, even without meaning to. It's almost like an Olympic sport for me.
I am also really into two new shows this Fall. The first is The Good Doctor starring Freddie Highmore. I've followed this kid's career since he was really young, and he has been super talented from the very beginning. In the Good Doctor, he plays a High Functioning Autistic surgical resident. Mom had to ask me if he was actually autistic. That's saying something. Its only two episodes in, but I know I'll be adding it to my collection of Google Play shows.
The other show is called The Gifted. It has a very "Tomorrow People" feel to me, but it also takes place in the X-men verse, and that makes me even happier. I ahve muses for several characters, so I'm sure my "playing as" list for Storybrooke will be growing now. So far, I have Andrew Strucker, John, and Marcos. I think I also have a Lauren brewing, but will probably have to rewatch that episode to know for sure. Males are my muse curse. I can count on one hand how many female canon muses I get. Usually I create female muses, but i never get any from specific shows. >.> It's such a weird thing.
Oh, and before I forget, I want to send out a very Happy Birthday to
insaneladybug! I hope you have a great one, Faye.
And on that note, I'm gonna sign off. Time to do some writing and reading.
