Plans, Important Plans
So the saga with the wrist is that we think this is something I will have to live with for the rest of my life now. Here is why. I got a letter in the mail from my doctor. They got the results from BayCare finally and are saying, as I already knew, that the ultrasound showed nothing. They said if we had questions we could call them. Nothing about a follow up. Which means, they probably feel like there is nothing more they can do for me. Which means they probably won't do anything else unless Momma Bear Candice (aka my Mom) gets in there and yells at them some more.
Ugh. But I don't wanna make this whole entry about that. No. I actually had some positive stuff to write about. I wanted to write about a long time forgotten favorite author of mine. And it's probably going to surprise some of you guys. V.C. Andrews.
I found some stuff out about her in recent weeks that I didn't know. FOr one, she didn't get published until she well into her fifties. And she only lived long enough to see 2 and half of her books into publication. She had help with her others, and the rest that you see on the shelves now? They're all written by a ghostwriter she handpicked. I also found out that she was disabled. This was incredibly inspiring to me. I don't think I know of too many disabled authors.
It gives me new hope, you guys. Maybe I Will keep trying to put my writing out there. I was talking to Brie a week or so ago about revamping Transitions (as well the other books in the The Borderlings series) and rereleasing it on Paetrons as a serial novel. But I'd need to see how that works. Getting published can mean so many different things to people these days than it did to Ms. Andrews back then.
So that is one thing I am thinking about on this, a night of many all nighters lately. Publication possibilities. This does not mean I will be doing National Novel Writing Month. I probably won't be doing that on an official capcacity again until I can find some dictation software I am happy with. I have tried and tried it, but it looks like it might be my best bet, and I might have to learn to live with that. and I have to stop fighting the inevitable.
It's just too bad that Dragon appears to be the only software out there that's "foolproof". Windows Voice rec is full of holes, and I find myself constantly using the keyboard fix mistakes. When my wrist first started hurting, I used my phone's speech to text feature, and they kept spelling Bailee's name "Bailey", and I wanted ot tear my hair out. Look, I know that spelling's not that common, but if you're gonna have that Speech to text feature, can't we have a feature where you can spell the name so that the program learns how you want to spell yourversion of the name? (Sorry, but that's what Dragon Naturally Speaking does, and it spoiled me when I had it.)
So these are just things I'm thinking of this time of night. Gonna try and get some reading done. I'll talk to you guys later! :)

It's a drag your phone's speech to text is also rubbish--I was hoping that may be a viable option until you're able to get Dragon again. Google's Recorder (a native Pixel app) has gotten pretty decent, even though some words I definitely have to correct while I'm reviewing my transcripts. I've been keeping a running list of all the way's it has interpreted my research site's name and it's kind of amazing. That being said, it does a nice job with punctuation. But for what you want to use it for, it'd be way more work. I've never heard anything good about Windows Voice.
As far as disabled writers go--don't forget about Leigh Bardugo and her degenerative condition! I also have a list of others I'm happy to share, including Amanda Leduc (who also has CP), though they may not all be up your avenue. But we're definitely out here.
Also, in terms of Patreon, make sure you also look at Amanda Palmer's Patreon, which for the longest time was the Gold Standard. Bruce's is definitely simpler, but that may also give you some ideas in terms of how you want to structure/share writing!

Some may be surprised that you like V.C. Andrews, but I'm... not, haha.
Means you could definitely handle all the content in Cry for the Devil should you choose to read it, especially since none of it goes V.C. Andrews levels of extreme, haha.Anyway, you should definitely keep trying to put your writing out there!I hope you can find some dictation software that you're happier with.
